Jackson, Mississippi’s Clarion-Ledger is reporting that Bloodshot Records will release a CD in tribute to the late Larry Brown. Entitled Just One More, A Musical Tribute to Larry Brown, the CD will contain tracks from Mississippi musicians Cary Hudson, T-Model Ford, North Mississippi All-Stars and others. Also on the disc are non-Mississippi musicians such as Alejandro Escovedo, Robert Earl Keen, and Vic Chesnutt.
Bloodshot Records plans to release the CD on May 22, 2007.
This seems especially fitting to me. Larry loved music, wrote the liner notes to Homegrown, a CD by Cary Hudson’s old band Blue Montain, and musicians loved him right back. “Two nights after his death a great band in San Marcos dedicated the night’s performance to him,” Barry Hannah writes in a brief essay about Brown. “Such was the reaction of musicians, an untold amount of whom were his fans.”
