Those of you in the north-central Mississippi area might want to skip lunch today and build up a hefty appetite. The gang at Square Books is cooking up burgers today in conjunction with John T. Edge’s book signing for Hamburger & Fries: An American Story. Edge, a food expert who has appeared on The Food Network, has published work in the likes of Gourmet, Saveur, and The Oxford American. He was also a 2004 finalist for the M.F.K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award from the James Beard Foundation. He’s the author of some fine cookbooks, and most recently, he’s been examining American iconic foods. As part of this series, he’s already looked at fried chicken and apple pie, so this Hamburger & Fries should be a delicious experience.
