Irvine Welsh to Write… a Romanace?

BookSlut picked up a report from The Scotsman that said Irvine Welsh’s new novel follows the adventures of Daniel Skinner who not only discovers that his father is a gay chef working in San Francisco but he also meets an American girl and ends up falling in love. The report stated “the writer, whose books are awash with drugs, sex and violence on the streets of Edinburgh, seems determined to shake off his bad boy reputation by trying his hand at romance.” Welsh typically does not comment on unfinished work, but he recently gave an interview where he hinted at the new subject matter contained in the novel The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs. The book is scheduled to be published next year, and as the report says, what would Begbie think?
