RIP Sam Sheppard

With the news of Sam Shepard’s passing, I wonder how many people who enjoyed his movies will pick up some of his books or stage plays? Shepard’s career was admirably summed up by this career overview in the Boston Herald.

In any one field, Shepard would have been considered by anyone to be a success. But the skill he showed in acting, writing, and so forth is mind boggling. His short story collection Cruising Paradise has always been a favorite of mine.

Sad news, coming so close on the passing of Thom Jones and other literary heavyweights.
