Ace’s Authorial Wardrobe

That Metal Show on VH1 Classic is required viewing around my house. Hosted by Eddie Trunk along with Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine, the show focuses on classic hard rock and heavy metal. It has also become a prime outlet for musicians to discuss their books. For example, drummer Carmine Appice recently discussed writing his memoir and devoting a specific chapter to Led Zeppelin percussionist John Bonham.

On this particular episode, at the 2:33 mark, original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley explains that he can no longer wear leather pants and leather boots because, “I’m an author now.” As a result of his literary efforts, he’s adorned in a blazer and loafers.

The Spaceman’s book No Regrets was reportedly slated for an April 2011 release from Gallery Books. However, later reports were that the book has been delayed until 2013. Frehley was working with Joe Layden, a journalist who also served as a co-author on Dave Mustaine’s 2010 book Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir.
