Pinter Wins the Nobel

(alternate text)

British playwright Harold Pinter was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature yesterday. The 75-year-old author of 29 plays joins other theater luminaries such as Samuel Beckett and Eugene O’Neill as winners of literature’s most prestigious prize. I have to admit my ignorance here… my impoverished knowledge of drama is pretty much limited to Sam Shepard, John Osborne, David Mamet, and Luis Valdez, so I’m clueless about Pinter’s plays. But The Washington Post put together a pretty good overview, so check it out to learn more about his life and work.
